39 Main Street Greytown

Price range: $130.00 - $180.00

Delightful boutique heritage accommodation near the heart of Greytown's shops and cafes. Private, quiet and seriously comfortable with lots of personal extras.
Shy Cottage is a beautifully restored Workingman's cottage, with a private courtyard, garden access, outdoor seating, BBQ shack. Inside in the living area there's a wood burner, the kitchen is fully equipped. Off the bedroom is a full bathroom with a shower and separate claw-foot bath.

Piquillo is an apartment attached to the house, with its' own entrance and outdoor sitting area and garden access. While attached to the house it is completely private and there is no noise carry over. The kitchenette is well equipped with a microwave, electric fry-pan and toaster. There is a large shower room featuring a stained glass window.

Breakfast is an optional extra for both accommodations. It is given as full kit for you to cook at your leisure; it is likely to include bacon, egg, cereals and milk, breads and jam, teas and coffees ($20 per person).

In the bathroom you will find NZ made toiletries that are kind to the environment; we ask you to recycle where possible and provide a compost bin for food scraps, either for our chickens or the compost heap.

The compost is used to enhance our gardens which are pretty, fragrant and productive. we encourage you to sit and enjoy the tranquil setting and you are welcome to use the fresh herbs, sometimes we have excess vegetables.

"Garden Spa Bath". The Garden Spa Bath House is nestled under the trees and has an open aspect into the garden, to allow you to watch the night sky while you share a lovely relaxing bath. The Spa bath is a double ended two person bath. Why not treat yourself to bubbles in the bath and bubbles to sip while you soak the weeks pressure away. The Spa Bath should be booked before you arrive as it is private use and can be booked by either accommodation; additional towels and robes are provided. The cost is $20, bath bubbles provided so just bring your favourite drink.

We have 2 bicycles which guests are welcome to borrow.

Both accommodations can usually be booked for just one night; however at busy times, the minimum varies between 2-4 nights minimum booking. We hope this doesn't cause too much inconvenience.

Consistently lovely
My partner and I have stayed at Shy Cottage several times over the past few years, and it is consistently lovely. It is well-appointed and comfortable, private and relaxing. Breakfast is substantial and thoughtfully catered to special dietary requirements. Always a pleasure to stay in this pretty setting, and easily wander into the Greytown village.
